Change - some people love it and others hate it. No matter what you view on it is, the fact is that change is always occurring, we live in a fast-paced world which we need to keep up with.
If you look at the seasons and nature, they’re forever changing. There isn’t any resistance. Flowers bloom, trees get their leaves back time after time, birds migrate, and some animals hibernate. Nature has adapted to the changing seasons and will continue to adapt. Change has been occurring since Planet Earth was created, through change things evolve. Change occurs so often in our lives; relationships, jobs, goals, dreams, people in our lives, diet, lifestyle etc…. I bet as some of you are reading this you will be going through many different changes, some big some small but change is happening.
So why do we resist change?
Probably the most common reason which I have come across is fear or simply just don’t want to. We have become creatures of habit, we like the same routines they provide comfort and security. But by doing the same things day in and day we will never evolve across various levels. More than likely when we have a choice to change then we will make our own resistance ‘can’t stop smoking because I will put on weight’ ‘I can’t change my career in case I fail’ ‘I can’t change my attitude because it gets results’ I bet that some of these you can relate to or have something familiar. Now I am not saying that this isn’t fine, it is your life and you make your own choices, but what happens if you just gave in a little and embraced the change, just maybe, it might be one of the best things you have ever done!
Unexpected change…
As the life cycle continues we are sometimes faced with devastating changes, things that we never imagined, couldn’t prepare for and it seriously hits you like a tonne of bricks. In these instances, you need to spend some time working on you, reflecting and being honest to yourself. We tend to feel numb – the bodies response to protect itself. Once you start to understand how you are feeling then you can start the process of acceptance, the time scale of this will vary for everyone. What ever it takes so long as you continue to change, then you will begin to move forward.
Embrace the change…
So, the next time you are faced with change, take a breath, identify how it makes you feel, explore this feeling, work on you and then learn to accept and embrace the change. Who knows where this journey may lead and what you will learn from it. Remaining open and positive is one of the best attitude to have whilst living our life’s. We know the impact of stress on the body, it isn’t good! So, don’t be causing unwanted stress, learnt to accept, the more that you do this the easier it will become. Being positive and open will inspire others to be the same, it is contagious! So get out of the negative same routines and make some changes, I bet that you will benefit in more ways than one!
The biggest change which can impact everything else is starting with you. As Michael Jackson sang ‘if you wanna make the world a better place, then take a look at yourself and make the change’
